The 2024/25 VfB Stuttgart attack was powered by Deniz Undav and Nick Woltemade and had a very solid campaign.
However, Woltemade left for Newcastle United in 2025 and scuffled through his first season in England, while Undav kept up his excellent level of play.
Now, the duo could once again start together for Julian Nagelsmann and the German national team per Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Deniz Undav will start against Ecuador tomorrow as Julian Nagelsmann is set to make a few changes on the team
after securing first place in the group.
Undav is set to replace Jamal Musiala at #10. Nick Woltemade could start upfront or at least get his first World Cup minutes off the bench.
Fans have been calling for Undav to start all tournament and will finally get a chance to see the scoring machine play from the outset of a match. As for Woltemade, the big striker was thought to be in the running for a starting job at this World Cup, but his struggles during club season seemed to take him out of the mix.
Now, the duo will get a chance to show what it can do vs. Ecuador.
