Werder Bremen attacker Marco Grüll knew his team was ready to face off with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
The squad was prepared and focused, but once things started to turn on the pitch, there was little that the River Islanders could do to assert themselves against the Bavarians. Ultimately, Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-0 victory where the Bavarians were rarely tested. Harry Kane had a brace and Leon Goretzka added another for the Rekordmeister.
“We set out to play football and be brave. We managed
to do that for long periods, but of course there were phases where Bayern were dominant. Nevertheless, we had our chances and if we score to make it 1-2, anything is possible,” Grüll told Werder Bremen’s social media team.
It was not an easy match for Werder Bremen, who is winless since November 7th, 2025. At some point, the River Islanders have to win again…right?
Right?
