Former Chelsea and Everton star Pat Nevin thinks that if Bayern Munich truly wants Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, that the 25-year-old should make the move.
However, Nevin also acknowledge that Liverpool is also likely in the mix.
“You don’t turn down Bayern, you just don’t. Look what it’s done for Harry Kane. Look what it’s done for Michael Olise. It’s been brilliant for them. I spent a lot of time in the Allianz going to games over the years. What a place,” Nevin told Mega Casino (via The
Chronicle). “You’re going to win trophies, which is a good thing. Anthony’s won the trophy within Newcastle which was great. Evertonians will remember about Anthony. When it’s right for him he’ll get going, he’ll leave and that’s fine because that’s just the modern game. That’s just what happens.
“The good thing for Newcastle is they will get a lot of money, they could reinvest it, hopefully wisely. You know there is something I’m deliberately not mentioning, Liverpool! Because, to be honest, here’s the weird thing, Liverpool’s not out of the question.”
It seems as if this deal will come down to three things:
- Gordon’s true desire to move abroad.
- Newcastle United’s transfer fee expectations.
- Bayern Munich’s cap on what it will spend for Gordon.
After those are determined, things will either fall into place quickly or the potential deal will fall apart.
