One thing that’s helpful in keeping things in perspective is remembering that there are several people currently hurtling toward the moon, in a very small piece of metal, and they were sent there on purpose. NC State alum Christina Koch is one of them, as part of the Artemis II crew that launched earlier this week.
The Artemis II mission is going to whip past the moon and come back, as a test mission for a future moon landing, which is going to be incredible. Already the photos are awesome.
It is crazy
that we’re sending people to the moon again. It’s possible to send people hurtling through space with like a quarter of an ounce of an inch of an ounce of protection, and you can do it in the larger interest of just wanting to learn more.
Imagine living that large. And think about living so small. What a thing that people do.
