The Michigan Wolverines are set to have a couple highly touted 2027 five-star wide receivers in town on Saturday for the game against Washington (Noon, FOX).
Five-star Monshun Sales is an athletic freak
at 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds. The Indianapolis native once said Michigan was his No. 1 school, but other programs like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami and Texas A&M, to name a few, have piqued his interest as well.
Not only is Sales visiting Michigan on Saturday, but he will actually go straight from Ann Arbor to South Bend for Notre Dame’s Top-25 matchup against USC. This recruitment is clearly far from over, but it’s a good sign he will take in the environment at the Big House before heading to Notre Dame.
Perhaps the more likely of these two receivers to eventually commit to Michigan is four-star Quentin Burrell. The No. 45 overall prospect in the class, Burrell is 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, and plays for Mount Carmel in Chicago. He had a monster sophomore season with 75 receptions, 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns.
A major feather in Michigan’s cap here is that his sister actually plays soccer at the University of Michigan. He even took an impromptu trip in September to see his sister play. He also got to sneak in a visit with the football coaches as well. Given all these factors in play, it wouldn’t surprise me if Michigan led early on.
“It was great,” Burrell told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($) after his visit last month. “They are always welcoming and they treat you like family. They have a lot of things I’m looking for with the combo of academics and football. I’ll be back in October for a game day.
“Elite in everything they do. On and off the field. Only a few schools have best of both, and Michigan is one of them.”
Michigan’s chief competition for Burrell is also Notre Dame, so it appears the Wolverines and Fighting Irish will be duking it out for at least a couple top prospects in the 2027 class. Other schools to monitor for him include Georgia, Alabama and Penn State.
Four-star flip candidate officially visiting this weekend
In addition to those guys in the 2027 class, the Wolverines will also be hosting 2026 four-star offensive lineman Sean Stover for an official visit this weekend. The 6-foot-2.5, 275-pounder from Prosper, Texas committed to Duke last November, but Michigan entered the conversation a few weeks back when he was offered a scholarship.
The Wolverines are recruiting him as their center of this cycle, so it appears four-star commit Bear McWhorter will focus on one of the guard spots once he gets to Ann Arbor. If this visit goes well, it wouldn’t be a shock to see some flip predictions come in for Michigan.
