Florian Wirtz was in action as Germany dispatched a troublesome Luxembourg 2-0, with the attacker looking busy and perhaps slightly unlucky not have have a goal or assist — though his teammates did seem
to think him about a foot taller than he actually is.
Virgil Van Dijk’s Dutch side came back to draw 1-1 against Poland, with both Van Dijk and Cody Gakpo playing 90 minutes and Ryan Gravenberch coming off in the 89th. It was not the strongest showing from any of Liverpool’s three Dutch players, though no one played badly and Gakpo was heavily involved in the buildup to the goal.
Elsewhere Conor Bradley’s Northern Ireland were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Slovakia, with Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka picking up man of the match shouts. Bradley was fielded in midfield, and did not have his best game, but was not at fault for the goal his side conceded.
Alexis Mac Allister played 85 minutes in Argentina’s friendly win against Angola, while Mohamed Salah captained Egypt in their friendly loss to Uzbekistan.
All in all, not the strongest day for the international Reds.
