Summer signing Roony Bardghj has made it clear he’s come to Barcelona to play for the first team and not Barca Atletic when talking to the media on international duty.
It’s been reported that Roony will have a role somewhere between both teams, but he says that is not the case and he’s focused solely on playing for the senior squad.
“I don’t think I would have signed if it was to play for the youth team. I’ve played over 100 games for an A team and I wouldn’t have accepted going to a B team. That’s
something you made up. It’s not true,” he said, via Mundo Deportivo.
“From the beginning, both the club and I knew what the plan was. From day one, the key has been to be in the first team. Of all the talk, none of it is true. It hasn’t affected me.”
Barcelona have had difficulty registering Roony following his arrival, meaning he’s yet to make his competitive debut for the club.
He was finally registered as a Barca Atletic player on deadline day but doesn’t seem worried by the situation.
“As many know… I don’t know if you can call it a problem, but they’ve been having difficulties registering players for several years,” he added.
“It hasn’t just happened to me this year. It’s happened many times and it’s something the club is struggling with.”
Barcelona were reportedly advised against registering Roony with the reserves by La Liga, meaning he’ll have to spend some time with Juliano Belletti’s side, although he has been included in the club’s Champions League squad.
