Another NCAA transfer portal target is on the Forty Acres as the Texas Longhorns host Rutgers Scarlet Knights transfer cornerback Bo Mascoe on Monday.
The 5’11, 185-pounder has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
A consensus three-star prospect ranked as the No. 845 player nationally and the No. 85 cornerback
in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Mascoe signed with Rutgers in the 2023 recruiting class after also taking an official visit to Boston College. Other offers for the Florida product included Iowa, Iowa State, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Western Kentucky, and Miami (Ohio).
At Rutgers, Masccoe played in one game as a freshman while redshirting before becoming a part-time starter in 2024, starting in four of the team’s 13 games and recording 50 tackles with five pass breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
Mascoe became a full-time starter in 2025, notching 53 tackles, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, four passes broken up, and one interception. Pro Football Focus didn’t grade Mascoe out as a strong run defender, but he is a sure tackler and graded out well in coverage despite allowing 346 yards and four touchdowns on 28 receptions.
During Mascoe’s first two seasons in Piscataway, he was coached by current Texas cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey.
Texas is looking to add a starting-caliber player at cornerback after Manny Muhammad declared early for the 2026 NFL Draft and Jaylon Guilbeau exhausted his eligibility.
