Say what you want about Brian Callahan, but he covered the spread last week for just the third time in his 18 games as an NFL head coach. No one in their right mind would have bet on the Tennessee Titans +8.5 against the Denver Broncos, but there are plenty of people not in their right mind out there, so some people probably made some money on the Titans on Sunday. Are you willing to re-invest that hard-earned money on the Titans this week, +5.5 against the Los Angeles Rams? That’s the opening number

I do like that number better than the Broncos’ number. The Titans are at home this week, and while the Rams do have a really good defense and pass rush, it is not as good as what they faced last week. Cam Ward also now has a start under his belt, and though the final numbers weren’t good, he did a lot of good things in that game. You can see a scenario where he gets a lot better from week to week early in the year.
The Rams also don’t have Patrick Surtain, so Calvin Ridley should have an easier time getting open in this game. Now, whether or not he can catch the ball when it is thrown to him is a different story.
I wouldn’t put any money on the Titans ever, but especially not right now with all of the uncertainty around this team. Which side of this bet would you take?
