Happy June, everyone! Official visit season is finally here, as the Wolverines hosted one prospect this past weekend to begin the festivities. Although it was a historically light first official visit weekend, Michigan is gearing up to host a ton of top targets over the next few weeks.
Five-star DL visiting Michigan later this month
Tyzon Swann is an incredible name for a recruit, snd it’s even better because he’s a really highly regarded prospect to boot. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from Indian Head, Maryland is a Top 10 recruit in the 2028 class,
per the Rivals Industry Rankings, and had a monster sophomore year in which he compiled 135 tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
Swann will be on campus soon enough, as he told 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($) that he plans on taking a trip to Ann Arbor from June 13-14. He is at Alabama beginning today and will wrap that up on Wednesday. After that, he has trips planned for Texas Tech (June 5-7), USC (June 10-12), Michigan State (June 14-15) Ohio State (June 16) and Penn State (June 17).
“Just to go up there and see campuses and get a feel for it,” Swann said. “See if that would be a great fit for me.”
In addition to those visits, Swann took spring trips to Virginia Tech, Florida, Maryland and Auburn. His upcoming trip to Michigan will be his first.
New safety target updates recruitment
Getting back to the 2027 class, Michigan continues to go hard after 2027 three-star safety Errol Kerns III. The Indianapolis native has been committed to Miami (Ohio) since the spring, but he has recently earned offers from Power 4 programs like Michigan, Texas A&M, Illinois and Kentucky. He also just earned offers this past week from Indiana and Ohio State, the latter of which he grew up rooting for.
“It’s been very exciting,” Kerns told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($). “A couple months ago I was committed to Miami (Ohio). I love Miami over there. It’s pretty nice. I love the coaches and stuff like that. But I’m still chasing dreams.”
Kerns is coming off his first official visit of the summer to Texas A&M. He will be at Ohio State this upcoming weekend, followed by Michigan the weekend of June 12 and Indiana the weekend of June 19.
“Coach DD (Dave Denham) I built a really good bond with him,” Kerns said. “He’s from Indiana. Me and coach (Tyler) Stockton we had a very good meeting. They’re on top of the list right now.
“When I committed to Miami it was the brotherhood I was looking for. At Michigan, it’s a big brotherhood over there. I noticed it when I was talking and having the meetings.”
Not even inside the Top 1,000 yet on the Rivals Industry Ranking, Kerns is a clear rankings riser in the near future with all these power programs going after him. He also impressed as a junior last season by recording 90 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
