Kylan Boswell heads to the league coming off of his best season yet. The senior averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while helping lead Illinois to its first Final Four appearance since 2005. He shot 44.4% from the field while providing veteran leadership on both ends of the floor.
Boswell was also able to bring home some accolades for himself after he was honored with a 2025-26 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection, 2025-26 Big Ten All-Defensive Team choice, and Naismith
Defensive Player of the Year Watch List honoree.
His best performance came early in the season against Florida Gulf Coast, posting an uberly efficient double double with 31 points on 13 field goal attempts on top of his 10 rebounds, highlighting the tenacity Boswell brings to the table while showcasing he has the tools to develop into a dependable rotational guard capable of carving out a lengthy professional career.
Boswell now joins a growing list of Illinois players reaching the NBA under Brad Underwood, further solidifying Illinois as one of the nation’s premier developers of professional talent. If this recent history is any indicator, Boswell could very well make a meaningful impact for Charlotte like Terrence Shannon Jr, Will Riley, and Ayo Dosunmu have in the league.
Boswell’s ability to be a disruptive point-of-attack defender with a high motor is reminiscent of 2020 second round pick, Tre Jones. His combination of strength, experience, and decision-making ability appealed to the Hornets who had been seeking a reliable reserve guard to play behind Coby White capable of contributing on both ends of the floor.
The Champaign native heads to Charlotte at just 21 years old despite already having four years of high-level college basketball experience. On top of the solid foundation he has created throughout those years in college, this youth will allow him to adapt to the NBA mold and have a lengthy career along with it.
