Last week was a busy one for the Buffalo Bills’ Record Book. Josh Allen, Greg Rousseau, and Tyler Bass all gave us reasons to put down our pencils and pick up the permanent markers. A few records that were on our watch list are now officially in the books, and we can put the erasers away for those.
Allen moved past Jim Kelly on the franchise touchdown list, Rousseau climbed past Darryl Talley in career sacks, and Bass continued rewriting Buffalo’s kicking records. That’s three fewer things to keep
track of, but don’t worry, we’ve still got plenty to watch.

Chapter 1: Sure Things
Dawson Knox — One Yard Away
Dawson Knox doesn’t need much to move up Buffalo’s all-time receiving list. In fact, one yard will do it.
Knox enters Week 9 with 2,736 career receiving yards, tied with James Lofton for 16th in franchise history. His next receiving yard would put him ahead of the Hall of Fame wide receiver.
But Knox might want to keep an eye on Khalil Shakir. The Bills’ receiver has 2,666 career receiving yards, just 70 behind Knox. With the season only half over, this is going to be a teammate race through Week 18.

Chapter 2: A Good Bet
Josh Allen — The 5,000-Yard Club
Josh Allen needs just nine rushing yards to reach 5,000 for his career. After picking up 30 against Baltimore, the Buffalo quarterback sits at 4,991.
Nine yards doesn’t sound like much for Allen, but remember, he managed just one rushing yard against Las Vegas three weeks ago. So, we’re keeping the pencil handy for this one.
Josh Allen — Passing Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning holds the NFL record for the most combined touchdowns through a player’s first 10 seasons with 322. Allen is sitting at 321, and he still has plenty of football left to play in his ninth year.
One more touchdown, whether it’s through the air or on the ground, would tie Manning. Two would give Allen the record outright.
James Cook — Catching His Quarterback
James Cook has been keeping our pencil and eraser busy. His pursuit of Josh Allen on Buffalo’s all-time rushing list started in the Superhuman chapter, moved up to Not Impossible, slipped back to Superhuman, and now he’s made it all the way to A Good Bet.
Cook has 4,966 career rushing yards, just 25 behind Allen’s 4,991. He’ll need to outgain his quarterback by 26 yards to take over fourth place on the franchise leaderboard.
Like Knox and Shakir, this is one that could prove to be a race – although we will likely have a winner before Week 18 here.

Chapter 3: Not Impossible
Josh Allen — Chasing Two Hall of Famers
Allen has 88 career rushing touchdowns, putting him two away from tying Eric Dickerson and Curtis Martin at 90.
Two rushing touchdowns in one game certainly isn’t out of the question for Buffalo’s quarterback. He’s done it before. But with James Cook carrying the ball and Allen also looking to do damage through the air, we’re not ready to call this one a sure thing.
Greg Rousseau — A New Personal Best
Greg Rousseau already has seven sacks this season, just one shy of his career high of eight, which he reached in both 2022 and 2024.
One sack against the Minnesota Vikings would tie that mark. Two would give him nine on the season and a new career best, with plenty of games still on the calendar this year.

Chapter 4: Superhuman
Greg Rousseau — Chasing Mario Williams
Rousseau has already passed Darryl Talley on Buffalo’s career sack list, but the next name is a little farther away.
Mario Williams recorded 43 sacks during his time with the Bills. Rousseau has 39, meaning he needs four to tie Williams and 4.5 to move past him.
That’s a pretty tall order for one game. But this is the Superhuman chapter, after all. We wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t leave room for something a little ridiculous.

We’ll keep the pencils sharpened, the erasers handy, and the permanent markers ready. With the way these records have been moving around lately, there’s a good chance we’ll need all three before the final whistle blows Monday night.
