Baseball Prospectus | Mario Delgado Genzor: ($) BP provides a look at the best individual pitches possessed by pitchers on the free agent market. Despite his poor 2025 season, Devin Williams’ changeup
comes in as the best change on the market. It’s heartening, at least for Williams’ future prospects, that any sort of evaluation of his signature Airbender, whether the eye test or some sort of statistically model, still leaves the changeup as one of baseball’s nastiest singular offerings. Expect Williams to generate interest on the market because of his still-excellent stuff, even in light of his near-5.00 ERA for the Yankees last year.
CBS Sports | RJ Anderson: The Mets and Rangers pulled off the biggest trade of the offseason so far, swapping sizable contracts in Brandon Nimmo for Marcus Semien. This obviously isn’t a Yankees-specific manuever, but it’s still a fascinating move, and one that does impact the offseason landscape. The Mets moving Nimmo leaves them in need of outfielders next to Juan Soto; could this signal a strong intention to sign presumed Yankees targets Cody Bellinger or Kyle Tucker? It also raises questions about the Rangers’ direction, as the club has now made good on rumors that they were looking to move off some big salary — albeit while claiming another hefty deal in return.
MLB Trade Rumors | Nick Deeds: It was a light news day on the Yankees front, so here you’ll find an analysis of the best players that were non-tendered this week. Though the Yankees typically run payrolls at or near the top of the league, they also love a good bargain more than anyone, so you can be certain that they’ll have looked over the list of non-tenders to see if any overlooked talent has been jettisoned. Among the names is Nathaniel Lowe, who posted solid numbers after coming over to Boston last year, as well as old friend Mike Tauchman, who’s entering his age-35 season coming off a surprisingly strong campaign with the White Sox. A couple of infielders on the list could theoretically pique the interest of the Yankees as the club considers right-handed bench options, with Christopher Morel, a powerful player with limited defensively ability, having gotten cut by the Rays last week, and the slick fielding Ramón Urías also hitting the market after being non-tendered by the Astros.
