The Los Angeles Chargers continued to be stung by the injury bug in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
Second-year wide receiver Tre’ Harris is questionable to return to the game after suffering a hamstring injury. Before leaving the game, Harris notched two catches for 16 yards on a team-wide four targets.
The team is already struggling in the wide receiver room with Lad McConkey on a pitch count due to injury. The team is also without rookie wide receiver Brenen Thompson.
With Harris and McConkey
both dealing with injuries, and Quentin Johnston on the inactive list for this week, the team must rely on veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, return specialist Derius Davis and tight ends Oronde Gadsden II, Charlie Kolar, and Hayden Rucci, who scored the team’s touchdown in the first half.
Rucci has bounced around the league for three seasons, playing with the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed with the Chargers on September 22 after landing on the Jags’ practice squad. The touchdown is the first of his career.
The offense has been problematic for both teams in this game, as each team has only 10 points going into the fourth quarter. It’s a tight matchup for both sides, but it will come down to who makes the biggest play when it matters most.
Fans can watch the remainder of the AFC West rivalry game between the Broncos and Chargers on CBS or stream it on the Paramount Plus app.
