AEW Dynamite airs tonight (Sept. 30) with a live show emanating from Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is the first episode of Dynamite during the three week build to WrestleDream, which takes place on October 17.
Will Ospreay, Ricochet, and AEW say goodbye to PAC the best way they know how
The wrestling world is still shocked by and processing the horrible news of PAC’s death from over the weekend, especially after just watching him work a very good match against Andrade at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view.
Tonight’s episode of Dynamite is now a tribute to
PAC. Throughout the show, we will likely hear from many AEW wrestlers who are mourning the loss of PAC and sharing their favorite memories of The Bastard. I expect that Jon Moxley’s Death Riders will be front and center, given PAC’s status as a member of their faction.
For some wrestlers, the best way to pay tribute to PAC is between the ropes. With that in mind, tonight’s main event is AEW World Champion Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet in a non-title match. These guys always have incredible matches together, and there’s no doubt they will both try to set the bar even higher during tonight’s tribute to PAC.
Following this month’s Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite and AEW’s tribute to The Butcher on Collision, AEW fans are in store for another emotional show that will get the tears flowing again. Tune into Dynamite to see how AEW says goodbye to PAC and pays tribute to one of the most excellent wrestlers in the company.
The rest of the card
Prior to PAC’s death, AEW announced a tag team match for tonight’s show pitting Thunder Rosa and Hyan against Dr. Britt Baker DMD and TBS Champion Persephone. Baker is back home in Pittsburgh, so if this match is still happening, the fans will likely be rooting for her to beat her longtime rival Rosa one more time.
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– AEW is on a short three week cycle until the WrestleDream PPV, and Grand Slam France is already happening next Tuesday night. With tonight’s show being a tribute to PAC, I’m curious to see how much TV time, if any, AEW puts on moving current storylines forward and possibly announcing some new matches for these events.
– AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada is challenging Ospreay for the AEW world title next Tuesday at Grand Slam France. Does that mean some of the 617 members of the Don Callis Family plan to mess with Ospreay tonight?
– 55-year-old Chris Jericho and 21-year-old Nick Wayne are having their rematch at Grand Slam France. Will old man Jericho try to teach The Prodigy one last lesson before we get there?
– AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Mone and Thekla are on a collision course for WrestleDream. Can these two stars cut a promo on each other without using the word “bitch”?
– “Jungle” Jack Perry defeated Katsuyori Shibata at All Out, only to fall victim to Samoa Joe in the aftermath. Is AEW ready to announce an official date for Joe vs. Jack?
– The Young Bucks are the new AEW world tag team champions, and the new number one contenders are Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. Will the heels try to add a gimmick to the upcoming title match, after recently defeating the Bucks in a Tables match?
– Swerve Strickland and New Level are still the AEW world trios champions after defeating Hangman Page and Brodido at All Out. Does the win delay Swerve’s inevitable turn on Kofi and Creed? How will Hangman cope with losing another world title match on PPV?
– Speaking of cope, what’s next for Adam Copeland and Christian Cage after they lost the AEW world tag team titles at All Out? There might be no rush to answer that question, given how banged up everyone probably is coming out of that crazy ladder match. Is Big Stoke’s entire body wrapped up in a giant cast after his big spill from near the top of the ladder all the way to the floor outside the ring where he overshot one of the tables waiting for him?
– I assume Tommaso Ciampa is still determined to win another championship after losing against Okada at All Out. Does the Psycho Killer plan to target AEW National Champion Andrade, TNT Champion Darby Allin, or AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley next?
– Are AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor officially new members of Ospreay’s United Empire after they interfered on his behalf during the All Out main event and flashed the group’s sign?
– Does AEW have an update on Steven Borden after his match at All Out was stopped by the referee due to injury?
– A lot of people are criticizing WWE for sticking with its plan to air Worlds Collide tonight on YouTube at 7 pm, starting one hour before AEW’s tribute to PAC is set to begin. Will WWE change its mind between now and then? Probably not.
– Where the f*** is Wardlow? He’s finally on his way back to AEW, that’s where. But is he still one of the 618 members of the Don Callis Family?
