AJ Styles knows the clock is ticking on his pro wrestling career. In a new interview with Tokyo Sports, the Phenomenal One said he will definitely retire “within the next year.”
The exact details for his retirement run are not yet planned, but AJ said he will “probably” be at WrestleMania 42 next year. He wants to call it quits before the fans see a version of AJ Styles who can no longer perform at a high level, and that means he has no more than one year left in the ring.
Before AJ says goodbye, he
will at least get to wrestle in one of the very last matches of John Cena’s WWE career when they square off on October 11 at Crown Jewel in Australia. Cena isn’t scheduled for any WWE dates before then, so AJ will have to carry the build to their match with his promos over the next couple of weeks on Raw.
How do you think WWE should book AJ Styles’ final year (or less) in pro wrestling? Who will his last WrestleMania opponent be in 2026, if he makes it that far? Is he going to wrestle a match in TNA along the way? Give me your thoughts in the comments below, Cagesiders.
