Women’s Volleyball (10-6)
Kennedy Martin had 23 kills in Friday’s 3-0 sweep over No. 7 Wisconsin. Penn State dominated the match with its offense and held the Badgers to just .151 hitting percentage. The Nittany Lions picked up
their third win over a ranked team in the regular season.
Three different Penn State players recorded double digit kills in a 3-1 win over Northwestern on Sunday. Kennedy Martin (24 kills), Caroline Jurevicius (13), and Maggie Mendelson (11) all had a great game offensively for Penn State to lift the Lions to their third straight conference win.
Penn State will travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on Washington on Friday (10pm on BTN) and Oregon on Saturday (10:30pm on BTN).
Women’s Hockey (6-0)
The women’s hockey team continued its red-hot start with consecutive shutout wins over Delaware. In Game 1, Grace Outwater recorded her second career hat trick and Penn State outshot Delaware 56-10 in a dominant 5-0 win. Despite the Nittany Lions scoring seven goals in game two, Penn State’s defense was the story of Game 2, holding the Blue Hens to just one shot on goal in the entire game. Matilde Fantin and Danica Maynard each had two goals and two assists in Game 2.
Penn State will host Mercyhurst on Friday (3pm) and Saturday (1pm) looking to build on its 6-0 start and 2-0 start in AHA play.
Women’s Soccer (7-5-3)
The women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Washington on Thursday. Mackenzie Gress made three saves, but the offense could not get anything going against the Huskies, mustering just two shots on goal.
Julia Raich and Bella Ayscue each scored a goal for Penn State against Oregon, helping the Nittany Lions dig out of two one-goal deficits to force a tie against the Ducks. Ayscue drew a penalty in the box and converted her penalty shot in the 87th minute to avoid a second straight loss.
Penn State will travel to Indiana today (7pm on Big Ten Plus) and Purdue on Sunday (1pm on Big Ten Plus).
Men’s Soccer (5-5-2)
The men’s soccer team dropped its only contest of the week, a 2-0 loss to UCLA. Jonathan Evans made three saves for Penn State, but the offense could not find the back of the net on any of its five shots on goal.
Penn State will host Northwestern on Friday (7pm on Big Ten Plus) and Washington on Monday (6pm on BTN).
Field Hockey (5-7)
The field hockey team fell to 1-4 in conference play with a 4-0 loss to Northwestern. The Wildcats completely smothered Penn State’s offense, outshooting the Nittany Lions 24-7 in the game, including 14-4 in shots on goal. Aby Deverka made 10 saves for Penn State in the loss.
Penn State will host Iowa on Friday (5pm on Big Ten Plus) and Indiana on Sunday (11am on Big Ten Plus).
