Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal grabbed a goal and an assist for Hansi Flick’s side on Wednesday night as the Catalan giants booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 4-1 win.
The teenager teed up Robert Lewandowski for Barcelona’s equaliser and then made it 2-1 before Raphinha and Marcus Rashford completed the scoring.
Yamal then spoke to the media afterwards about how he’s enjoying playing in Europe’s elite club competition this season.
“We all came here aiming to finish in the
top eight, and I’m very happy with the victory. They became very strong after their goal, but I’m very pleased with the comeback,” he said.
“In the Champions League I feel freer, happier, and very content. Sometimes it’s one-on-one or one-on-two. Very happy. I’m getting used to it, it is what it is. When I can give the team an advantage, I’m happy.”
Yamal now has three goals and three assists in six Champions League outings this season and also admitted that sealing automatic qualification and avoiding the play-offs is a big bonus: “With the matches we have, having two fewer matches leaves you very relaxed.”
