Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward is expected to take a sizable step forward as a sophomore. After an impressive rookie season despite lackluster surroundings, the Titans bet big on Ward this offseason. They invested in his development by hiring Brian Daboll as his OC, and adding Wan’Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate at wide receiver.
Ward finished his rookie season with 3,169 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Ward had two head coaches (Brian Callahan and Mike McCoy) and two play
callers (Callahan and Mike McCoy). His top wide receivers were fourth-round rookies Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor.
Ward finished his rookie season ranked 17th in passing yards. The No. 1 overall pick likely would have been 16th had he not injured his shoulder on the first series of the Week 18 regular season finale. With a massive sophomore campaign looming, how many passing yards would you consider a success for Ward in 2026?
The theme of OTAs and minicamp was that Ward apparently struggled. He’s learning Daboll’s offense while figuring out how to test tight throwing windows. Ward was better at minicamp than OTAs, proving he’s growing in Daboll’s scheme. We’re now underway at training camp, where he’s had mostly positive practices to date.
Ward should aim for about 3,500 passing yards in 2026. That total would have placed 13th in the league last season ahead of Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers. If Ward starts all 17 games, he’d just need to average roughly 206 passing yards per game to reach 3,500.
Titans fans are hoping Ward takes a Drake Maye or Caleb Williams-like sophomore step. Maye finished fourth in passing yards last season with 4,394. Williams was seventh with 3,942. Perhaps Ward can flirt with 4,000 passing yards if he really thrives in Daboll’s system.
Expectations are high for Ward as a sophomore. About 3,500+ passing yards would signal a success. Hopefully Ward establishes himself as the Titans’ franchise quarterback in 2026.
