With the month of October basically over and just one game to play, the NFL just announced its monthly awards, and one of those awards has gone to a Seattle Seahawks superstar.
The NFC Offensive Player
of the Month was given to third-year wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This cannot be too much of a surprise given how dominant Smith-Njigba has been recently. In the three October games the Seahawks played, Smith-Njigba hauled in 24 catches for 417 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Smith-Njigba had at least eight catches, 100 receiving yards, and a touchdown in each of those games.
This heater that Smith-Njigba has been putting on this past month is only half of what his already dominant 2025 season has been. On the year, Smith-Njigba has 50 catches for 819 yards and 4 touchdowns. This would put him on pace for 121 receptions for 1,989 yards, and 10 touchdowns. If Smith-Njigba kept this pace, he would beat out Calvin Johnson for the most receiving yards in a single season in NFL History (1,964 yards in 2012). This would also easily beat the Seahawks single season record for receiving yards (currently held by DK Metcalf who had 1,303 yards in 2020), and the Seahawks single season record for receptions (currently held by Tyler Lockett who had 100 receptions in 2020, and by Smith-Njigba who had 100 receptions in 2024).
This Sunday night, Seahawks fans, along with the rest of the country, will be able to see if Smith-Njigba can continue this monumental season against the Washington Commanders.
