On Monday afternoon, MLB Network insider and New York Post baseball columnist Joel Sherman reported that the Colorado Rockies are trading right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for two players.
Halvorsen, 26, was a seventh round pick in the 2023 draft from the University of Tennessee. He had a very impressive MLB debut in 2023, posting a 1.46 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 12.1 innings out of the bullpen.
The following season, Halvorsen saw an increased workload but
couldn’t match his performance from his first cup of coffee. He posted a 4.99 ERA in 42 appearances with 36 strikeouts over 39.2 innings. During that time he walked 21 batters.
Halvorsen’s 2024 season was ended prematurely with a right elbow injury, though he managed to avoid Tommy John surgery.
This season, Halvorsen has spent time bouncing between the Major League team and the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. Like last season, he has incredible raw power behind his pitches—with a fastball that easily tops 100 MPH—but struggles with command. He has issued 15 walks with 17 strikeouts over 19 innings and has a 4.74 ERA over 21 appearances.
Halvorsen is currently on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation and began a rehab assignment over the weekend.
New York Post baseball columnist Jon Heyman has reported that the return for Halvorsen is right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso and outfielder Landyn Vidourek.
Frasso, 27, was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020 out of Loyola Marymount. He was traded to the Dodgers in 2022. He was once ranked as high as the no. 63 overall prospect per MLB Pipeline in 2023, but missed the 2024 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery.
Originally a starter, Frasso has come almost exclusively out of the bullpen during his last two seasons with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets. This season in Oklahoma City he has posted a 4.74 ERA over 21 appearances with 40 strikeouts and 17 walks across 24.2 innings of work. Frasso throws a four-seam fastball, a slider, and a changeup.
Also coming to Colorado in the trade is outfielder Landyn Vidourek who is ranked as the Dodgers’ no. 25 organizational prospect by MLB Pipeline. Baseball Prospectus is higher on Vidourek and have him ranked as the Dodgers ninth best prospect with a future 55 grade that comes with a high risk rating due to contact concerns.
Vidourek, 22, was a third-round pick in the 2025 draft and is currently assigned to the Low-A Ontario Tower Buzzers. Through 59 games this season, he has hit .170/.332/.311 with nine doubles, one triple, six home runs, 24 RBIs, and nine stolen bases.
Drafted out of the University of Cincinnati, Vidourek has intriguing tools. MLB pipeline rates him as having a 60-grade run tool and a 70-grade arm. He also has raw power in his left-handed swing that can still be tapped into. Vidourek can also draw plenty of walks—with 49 so far this season—but also has a tendency to chase.
