The Guardians defeated the Kansas City Royals 12-9 tonight, walking 13 times.
Many pitchers had terrible nights tonight… but I think a collapsing pitcher’s mound had a lot to do with that. Gavin Williams could not get through 5, and Hunter Gaddis gave up a bomb to Carter Jensen. Vogt made clear he will continue to go to Gaddis late in games in the postgame… so better figure it out, Gaddy!
Angel Martinez had two big two-RBI hits, Jose actually took a bases loaded walk(!), and David Fry hit a huge two-run
bomb off Noah Cameron. Please stick around lefty masher Fry.
The highlight of this wild game for me was Daniel Espino’s clean inning, where he struck out Bobby Witt Jr. Looking. It was his first professional back-to-back appearance and he passed the test with flying colors.
Now, tomorrow, time for Tanner Bibee to prove he is worth his contract, for the Guardians to finally hit Michael Wacha and for the Rockies to beat the White Sox. Pretty please!
