With a Sunday Night’s Main Event coming up from WWE this weekend in Atlanta, that may remind you we haven’t seen Bayley on WWE programming since Lyra Valkyria beat her at July’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Manhattan.
Since word came out that Bayley’s current WWE contract would be expiring at the end of this year, she’s teased the idea of joining her wrestling soulmate Mercedes Moné in AEW — as has Moné. That coinciding with her month-plus absence for WWE television spurred speculation, but then
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and others noted that Bayley’s name was coming up on Raw a lot. That was taken as a credible sign Bayley wouldn’t be benched until her contract was up, and that WWE thought it could keep her in the fold.
Now (Sept. 3), Mike Johnson reports on PWInsider Elite that WWE creative’s been pitching ideas for Bayley’s return. The expectation is she’ll be back on Raw within the next few weeks.
Johnson doesn’t say that the 37-year-old four-time WWE Women’s World champ has inked a new deal. So while the decision to use her on television this fall is probably at least a sign negotiations are going well… that’s speculation, and I personally won’t be taking any more than that from this report.
