On Wednesday, the Big East Conference announced the six major award winners for men’s soccer, as well as the All-Big East Teams. While the UConn Huskies did not capture any of the major awards, they placed
six players on the All-Big East teams.
Sabri Hanni was the only Husky named to the All-Big East First Team. The redshirt sophomore scored three goals and added five assists. He was previously named to the 2024 All-Big East Third Team.
UConn placed four players on the All-Big East Second Team, the most of any team in the conference. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Durham, junior Ayoub Lajhar, senior Nicolas Tomerius, and senior Charlie Holmes all earned Second Team honors. For Tomerius, it was his second All-Big East Second Team selection, having also earned the honor in 2023.
Senior Austin Brummett was named to the All-Big East Third Team after leading the Huskies with seven goals and 17 points.
The No. 3 seed Huskies are back in action on Thursday when they take on the No. 2 seed and 19th-ranked Akron Zips in the Big East Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
