As the league’s winter break draws near, Sunderland Women will be looking to close out their 2025 with 3 points against bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town Women on Sunday 21 December at Eppleton Colliery
Welfare Ground.
The Lasses, who started the season in good form but now find themselves 11th in a tightly-contested WSL2 table, are desperate to get their season back on track and establish a foundation for the second half of the season.
With only 7 points between them and 4th, a string of good results for the Black Cats could put them back in contention for promotion places, and they have a great opportunity to start a winning run against a side with only one league victory this season.
The Lasses’ squad has undoubted quality. WSL2 joint-top scorer Emily Scarr will be looking to add to her tally of 6 goals and 3 assists in the league, with New Zealand international and dead-ball specialist Katie Kitching able to pull the strings from midfield, and Manchester United loanee Keira Barry currently in good form for both the Lasses and England U23s.
There’ll also be a festive feel around Eppleton on the day, with Christmas tunes pre-match, a hot drink voucher for anyone in a Christmas jumper, and a free sweet treat for kids. Tickets are available from the SAFC Ticketing website, and the club’s family offer means 2 adults and 2 kids can attend for just £22, a saving of £10.
A collection for Sunderland Foodbank will also be taking place pre-match, with items such as long life fruit juice, jams, savoury treats, tinned tomatoes, coffee and toiletries particularly needed by the charity.
Looking past the winter break, the Lasses have a Part Season Ticket available for 2026 with 5 home games on offer, including the Wear-Tyne derby at the Stadium of Light. If ordered before Christmas, adults can receive theirs for £30, while kids are just £15 – that’s just £3 per match.
