At least the big league club won big last night, because it was a rough night elsewhere across the Phillies system with heartbreaking late losses and blowouts.
Worcester 5, Lehigh Valley 3
This one entered the ninth tied at 3-3 before Nolan Hoffman allowed two runs on two hits and a walk to put the Iron Pigs down two heading I to their half of the ninth. They were able to get the tying run to second base with two outs, but René Pinto struck out on a foul tip to end any chances at a dramatic rally.
It was a nice day for Felix Reyes though, as he went 2-4 with a home run, his 16th in Triple-A this season.
It wouldn’t be surprising if he earns another call to the Majors soon.
Hartford 6, Reading 5
It was another poor start for Jean Cabrera, as the right hander allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in six innings. Cabrera, once thought of as a potential MLB rotation depth piece or trade bait, now has a 9.47 ERA through 14 starts in 2026. Cabrera was managing well until the wheels fell off in the fourth, as the Yard Goats went double, single, caught stealing, single, single, fly out, three run homer, pop out. The Fightin’ Phils made it a game though, cutting the deficit to one in the ninth but ultimately falling short of a comeback.
Greenville 2, Jersey Shore 1
The Blueclaws wasted a strong pitching performance from Cody Bowker in his High-A debut, as a Carter Mathieson solo homer in the eighth was the only offense they could muster. Bowker meanwhile went 4 innings and allowed only two hits with no walks and struck out six. Greenville’s Devin Futrell was better though, tossing seven shutout innings.
Bradenton 13, Clearwater 2
Jean Cabrera wasn’t the only Phillies farmhand to have a rough night on the mound, as the Threshers surrendered 13 runs on 12 hits including two home runs from Eddie King Jr.. Zuher Yousef, MT Morrissey, and Jacob Pruitt combined to allow all of those runs in just 4.2 innings, with Morrissey being charged for 4 runs despite only getting two outs.
