TCU football’s new offensive coaching staff appears to be molding into shape. Multiple reports, including from Jeremy Clark of 247Sports, indicate that the Horned Frogs are hiring Tulsa offensive coordinator
and quarterbacks coach Brad Robbins to be TCU’s next quarterbacks coach. It’s a sensible move for Robbins, who previously worked as UConn’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach alongside Gordon Sammis, TCU’s new offensive coordinator, who was both an OC and an offensive line coach for the Huskies.
Robbins is expected to fill a role previously held by Kendal Briles, who served as TCU’s offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and associate head coach before bolting for South Carolina after the 2025 regular season concluded. Robbins has been at Tulsa for one season and joined UConn as the team’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator in 2024. An ascending coach, Robbins worked at Tennessee Tech in 2023 and was previously at Division II North Greenville University for three seasons as an OC and QBs coach.
His previous experience includes one season at Charleston Southern (2018) and a four-year stint with VMI (2013-17). He worked with wide receivers and tight ends at VMI before coaching receivers and serving as the director of community service at Charleston Southern. In 2010, Robbins graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia, where he became a graduate assistant linebackers and safeties coach after being a recruiting assistant.
Robbins will become the third quarterbacks coach under Sonny Dykes, who employed Garrett Riley during the 2022 season and Briles for three seasons. Riley departed for Clemson after TCU’s national title run. It will also mark the first time under Dykes that TCU employs two individuals as OC and QBs coach. Riley and Briles were both OC and QBs coaches during their time at TCU, but the Horned Frogs will now shift to separating the roles.
