“Notorious” was not impressed.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira dominated Max Holloway to capture the “BMF” title in the main event of UFC 326 last night (Sat., March 7, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
When Holloway vs. Oliveira 2 was first announced, most fans expected a chaotic striking battle. After all, both former champions are known for their relentless, action-heavy styles.
Instead, the fight played out much differently.
Oliveira leaned
heavily on his grappling advantage and controlled long stretches of the fight on the mat, neutralizing Holloway’s offense en route to a dominant — albeit less-than-thrilling — unanimous decision victory.
The performance didn’t sit well with former two-division champion Conor McGregor, who has a history with Holloway.
“DC telling Max on top ‘he should stall’ lol. He should have elbowed all the open targets. Payback,” McGregor wrote on social media. “‘Stall’ lol f—k off. Shockingly bad fight. I am shocked. Charles is a little Charlie, ahahaha. Very bad Charles, very bad. Hang your head bad. Good luck. Don’t crown that belt.”
About an hour later, McGregor added another post:
“If they want I’ll spank Charlie.”
McGregor was also one of the few voices who questioned whether the fight even deserved “BMF” title status in the first place, noting that both fighters cut significant weight to compete at Lightweight. Of course, the Irish star has also long maintained that he would defeat both men if given the chance.
Nevertheless, McGregor continues to insist he plans to return to action this year (it won’t be at UFC White House) — nearly five years since his last appearance inside the Octagon.
Many observers had pegged the winner of Oliveira vs. Holloway as a potential opponent for McGregor’s long-awaited comeback. But after Oliveira’s dominant — yet somewhat lackluster — performance, that possibility may have cooled.
That said, a rematch with Holloway might now be a lot more interesting.
