The New Orleans Saints got a win, and even with some injuries in the rookie class, there were still some strong performances. In Week 3, those performances can hopefully continue.
DT Christen Miller
Miller missed the Ravens game, and it’s a shame because I think he would have had a big game. Hopefully, Miller can be back against the Las Vegas Raiders, because if he can, the defensive line could have an even better game.
TE Oscar Delp
Delp had limited play against the Baltimore Ravens, but he was really impressive. As a blocker, Delp did
really well and helped the Saints deal with the pressure the Ravens were sending. One of his best plays of the day happened after Tyler Shough ran out of the pocket and threw it to Delp. It was a simple catch, but his first of his career.
After this game, I would say the Saints may view Delp as TE2 right now, and he did outplay Noah Fant. Fant also had a nearly catastrophic false start on the Saints’ final scoring drive, before the Juwan Johnson catch.
OG Jeremiah Wright
Wright, once again, did not play, and as of now, it does not seem a change will be made.
WR Bryce Lance
Lance was quieter in the passing game, but as a blocker, he had one of the best plays of the day on Johnson’s catch, where the TE converted a long third down after catching it near the line of scrimmage. His blocking once again shows up as such a difference maker in the offense, and that may continue to keep Brown off the field.
With Tyson still being out, Lance will be WR3 once again.
WR Barion Brown
Speaking of Brown, this was a better week for the young WR. He was not involved in the offense, but he had one of the most important plays of the day. Before the half, after the Saints just gave up a momentum-killing touchdown, Brown had a great return that put the Saints in field goal range. That play made it 14-6 going into halftime, setting up the Saints’ comeback.
Hopefully, he can do the same agianst the Raiders.
OT Mason Murphy
This may be finally Murphy’s time to play. Kelvin Banks Jr. is out moving forward, and the two players likely fighting for his spot are Asim Richards and Murphy. Richards is still the likely choice, but Murphy could be in the running.
