The NBA trade market has been quiet through much of August and September, but the impending start of the season is nigh and front offices are starting to waken after their long summer’s nap. Today multiple media outlets are reporting that the Atlanta Hawks are trading Buddy Hield and Ryan Nembhard to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith.
Finney-Smith, a 10-year veteran, played just 37 games last season for the Houston Rockets, averaging 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16.8 minutes
per game.
Hield, also going into his 11th season, played 51 games for the Hawks and the Golden State Warriors, averaging 7.6 points in 16.1 minutes per game.
Nembhard was a rookie in 2025-26, playing in 60 games for the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 6.6 points and 5.3 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.
