The Washington Commanders announced they have opened the 21-day practice window for WR Noah Brown. He hasn’t played since suffering a groin injury during a Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Brown was with the team in Spain, but couldn’t participate in any on-field drills until his practice window was opened to return from injured reserve.
Noah Brown was re-signed this offseason after joining the Commanders right before last season started. The Houston Texans released
the oft-injured WR at roster curdowns, and GM Adam Peters signed him two days later. Brown became part of Washington’s receiving corps behind Terry McLaurin, and made some big plays like the Hail Mary TD vs the Bears, while also drawing several pass interference penalties for big gains. His season ended early due to a lacerated kidney. Brown’s second season with Washington started with a lower leg injury during mandatory mini-camp in June which kept him out of training camp and the preseason.
Brown now has three weeks to practice with the team, and get activated, to play during the last part of a disappointing season. He’ll return to a receiving group that has seen a lot of changes due to injuries to all of Washington’s top options. Terry McLaurin is still out after aggravating the quad injury that kept him sidelined for most of the season. Deebo Samuel was limited with a heel injury for over a month. Luke McCaffrey is our for the year after breaking his collarbone on a kickoff return. New WR Treylon Burks had finger surgery after his first game with the Commanders.
Then there’s the question of Jayden Daniels, and his potential return from an elbow dislocation a few weeks ago. Brown’s return could give Washington more options on offense, but his time here is likely limited to whatever games he plays to finish out the season. His availability has been an issue throughout his career, and that didn’t change in Washington.
