As soon as tonight’s (Oct. 28) Fright Night episode of Dynamite began, it stood out to me when the AEW commentators hyped up a “double main event” for the show that included TBS Champion Persephone vs. Queen Aminata. I would not normally expect to see this match as the main event given they are both typically mid-card wrestlers in AEW who are fighting over a mid-card belt.
When their match did indeed go on last (and began during Dynamite’s ridiculous 20+ minute overrun), it seemed like it had to end
in a title change, right? Right.
Aminata overcame a belt shot from Britt Baker to take off Persephone’s head with her finisher and score the victory.
As Fright Night Dynamite went off the air, the rest of the babyfaces from the AEW women’s locker room poured into the ring to congratulate Queen on the biggest win of her career. Pretty cool moment for her right there.
Are you surprised that the TBS title match main evented Dynamite and/or that Aminata won the belt from Persephone? Let me know your reaction in the comments below, Cagesiders.
