Liam Coen has proven himself as effective a culture setter as he is as a play caller. Trevor Lawrence looks like his national-championship-winning self again. Anthony Campanile is on track to be
a head coach soon. With a depth chart that’s quietly among the league’s most balanced, the Jags are looking like legitimate threats to make noise in the postseason.
It’ll take some playoff success to sway national audiences, but anyone who’s watched this team can see its potential. The Jags are good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Coach? Check. Quarterback? Check. Roster? Check. Those areas still come with questions, but they clear a certain bar. They’re good enough.
Local expectations come with scars. For close to two decades, we watched this team with our hands half-covering our eyes, expecting tipped passes, blown blocks, and missed tackles. Draft discussions were in full force by Halloween. The on-field product was so miserable that it arguably created a closer bond between fans.
So now, after less than 20 games of the Liam Coen experience, are we really prepared to set Super Bowl expectations?
