What an ugly showing.
There are no winners. We are talking all losers tonight, and nobody is safe. The Broncos played awful on both sides of the ball and were embarrassed on the national stage vs. their divisional rivals. Blown out and looked awful while doing it.
Super Bowl caliber team? This didn’t even look like a playoff team. Everything that was supposed to be good about this team sucked tonight. Plain and simple.
Let’s get this over with. Here are your losers from tonight’s blowout loss to the
Chiefs.
LOSER – OC Davis Webb
Webb taking over the play-calling duties was a big talking point this offseason. The highly sought-after coordinator stayed with the Broncos and was handed play-calling duties from head coach and veteran play caller Sean Payton. There was a lot of hype about his potential, and we would see a new and improved Broncos offense.
Well, after one game, the offense took a step back.
Everything looked bad. Bo was taking sacks and turned the ball over multiple times; they abandoned the run, dropped passes, and could not block. They had a 1st and GOAL at the 5-yard line after a Mahomes INT and could not get a touchdown.
Remember the big trade for Jaylen Waddle? He was barely targeted, and when he was, he dropped the ball on 3rd down. Courtland Sutton did not get his first catch until the 3rd quarter.
Unacceptable.
LOSER – Broncos defense/tackling
This was the worst Broncos defensive showing since their 70-burger vs. the Miami Dolphins. They allowed the Chiefs to rush for over 200 yards (and counting as I write this with 6:40 left in the 4th quarter) and could not make a tackle at all tonight. Whiffs were the theme of the night and a reason for all the Chiefs’ big plays on the night.
What else is there to say? They looked awful and could not tackle at all. Embarrassing, pathetic, and unacceptable.
LOSER – Bo Nix
I have defended Bo Nix all offseason, but tonight, he gave all the ammo to his haters.
He played one of the worst games of his career, was sacked at least 4 times, and turned the ball over at least 2 times. This could go up as I type this.
The offense was 2/12 on 3rd downs. That’s not just a Bo Nix issue, but I am including it here.
LOSER – The entire Broncos organization
The entire organization takes the L tonight. From the top down.
You were one game away from the Super Bowl and, frankly, should have been in the Super Bowl. All offseason, we play the what-if game after a magical 14-3 season where they won the AFC West and were the one seed. You go on to make a big splash for Jaylen Waddle, bring back pretty much every free agent, and fail to go out and sign many outside free agents.
Then you unveil your new training facility, have the media hype you up all offseason, and enter Week 1 with a ton of hype…and you play like that? They looked unprepared and like a shell of the team we saw last season.
The Broncos lost by double digits just once last season (to the team they play next Sunday), but they start the 2026 season with a blowout loss.
0-1 with a tough schedule ahead.
Unacceptable.
