Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Wisconsin fans and fans across the country.
The Wisconsin Badgers have not been on the right side of history in recent years against the Iowa Hawkeyes. A season ago, they lost 37-0 in a humiliating outcome. The year before, it was a 42-10 loss.
Both games were at rough points in the season, and Wisconsin was physically outmatched on the ground in the two losses. Last season, the Badgers
were coming off a 24-10 loss to the Michigan Wolverines that wasn’t the best outcome, but one where you could clearly see the team fight.
Needing a win at 2-3, Wisconsin hosted Iowa and suffered its worst loss of the year in a game that really got the chatter going around Luke Fickell.
The year before, Wisconsin was at 5-3 coming off a tough 28-13 loss to Penn State, where they were at a one-point deficit going into the fourth quarter against the No. 3 team in the country. Wisconsin looked to bounce back against Iowa, but suffered a humiliating loss and never recovered that season.
That was the second loss of a five-game losing streak that resulted in the Badgers going 5-7 and missing a bowl game for the first time in over 20 years.
Now, the circumstances are much different going into this season’s game. The Badgers are riding some serious momentum, coming off a 24-7 win over USC that got them ranked at No. 25.
Iowa, on the other hand, is coming off a 13-10 loss to Minnesota, which caused them to fall out of the rankings altogether. They’re now the top team outside the AP Top 25.
Going into Saturday, the Badgers are 3.5-point underdogs, despite Iowa star running back Kamari Moulton being out for the season. It’s going to be another game where defenses are likely to lead the way, which means the more physical team will come out on top.
After the results the last two years, can Wisconsin turn things around and beat Iowa on the road? Share your thoughts in this week’s Reacts post and let us know in the comments below!
