With New York Giants training camp beginning on Wednesday at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia, let’s look at where the Giants stand in pre-training camp power rankings.
FOX Sports (No. 21)
Super Bowl odds: +7000
The good news is RB Cam Skattebo is healthy enough to do backflips. But WR Malik Nabers’ return from a knee injury isn’t as clear. No one wants to give a timetable or talk about Week 1, which is usually a bad sign.
The Athletic (No. 28)
How good was Dexter Lawrence
(who was traded to Cincinnati for the No. 10 pick, which turned into OT Francis Mauigoa)? So good that New York added seven new defensive linemen with a combined 48 years of NFL experience in hopes of filling his shoes. New Giants coach John Harbaugh also added first-round linebacker Arvell Reese to his defense.
For The Win (No. 21)
A possible surprising 4-1 start for New York being undone by a Jaxson Dart injury feels about right. Maybe John Harbaugh’s first miracle in New Jersey will be teaching him to slide.
Sharp Football (No. 24)
Super Bowl 61 Odds: +7000
I am sure the team would love it if Cam Skattebo would stop doing backflips and Malik Nabers shows he is 100% well before the season starts. Perhaps more importantly, the front office did a decent job rebuilding the defensive line, but that still looks like a worry spot.
NFL Trade Rumors (No. 22)
Valentine’s View
These convinced me of a couple of things. The Giants still have a lot to prove to media writing about the NFL. Second, it seems like writers will never get tired of poking fun at Skattebo and Dart.
