Temperatures in Chicago are slated to soar from 40° to 70° during the course of the scheduled White Sox home opener on Thursday. The problem is, with that comes an all-day downpour, including dangerous thunderstorms as well as heavy wind gusts.
Peering into that future, the White Sox took the rare step of cancelling the game 24 hours in advance, pushing the home opener to Friday. Friday promises cooler temps (highs in the mid-50s) but drier conditions. Saturday also looks to be wet, so there’s a chance
just two games get played over the weekend.
