From a Bayern Munich perspective, the question of which player to take from Bayer Leverkusen looks a little different than it did a couple of years ago. Several of Leverkusen’s biggest stars — including Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong — have already moved on, forcing the club into a new phase built around a mix of experienced leaders and younger talent.
So if Bayern Munich could pick one current Bayer Leverkusen player to plug into the squad for the next three seasons, a few intriguing candidates
stand out.
One strong option would be Alejandro Grimaldo. The attacking left-back remains one of the most productive full-backs in European football thanks to his crossing, set-piece ability, and attacking instincts. Even as Leverkusen have undergone squad changes, Grimaldo has remained a key contributor and focal point in the team’s system.
From Bayern’s perspective, that type of offensive production from the back line could be extremely valuable, especially if the club ever needed depth or long-term insurance on the left side.
Another interesting choice would be Aleix García. The midfielder brings composure, passing range, and tactical intelligence in possession. Bayern have often thrived with midfielders who can dictate tempo and control matches, and García’s skill set could complement players like Joshua Kimmich or Aleksandar Pavlović in the middle of the park.
Then there’s the striker conversation. With Harry Kane currently leading the line for Bayern, the club will eventually need to think about the future at center forward. That makes Patrick Schick or Christian Kofane intriguing possibilities.
Ibrahim Maza is a young attacking midfielder still developing, but his technical ability and creativity have already started turning heads. Over a three-year window, a player like Maza could grow into a dangerous rotational option capable of contributing goals and chances from advanced midfield positions.
Another interesting case is Malik Tillman. Having previously been part of Bayern Munich’s system earlier in his career, Tillman’s return to the Bundesliga spotlight has shown his attacking versatility. Comfortable as a No. 10, winger, or attacking midfielder, Tillman brings size, technique, and goal threat — qualities that could make him an intriguing depth piece in Bayern Munich’s attack.
Defensively, Jarrell Quansah would represent a long-term investment. The young center-back is known for his composure on the ball and physical presence, traits that fit well with Bayern Munich’s preference for defenders who can help build play from the back.
If Bayern Munich was looking for a more established defender, Edmond Tapsoba would be a strong candidate. Tapsoba has consistently been one of Leverkusen’s most reliable defenders, combining strength, positioning, and calm ball progression. A player with his experience in big matches could immediately strengthen Bayern Munich’s defensive rotation.
Finally, there is Equi Fernández, a midfielder whose game is built around intelligence and control. Fernández excels at dictating tempo and progressing the ball through midfield, which could make him a useful option in matches where Bayern Munich needs greater composure and structure in possession.
If the decision were purely about the next three years, though, Grimaldo might be the most seamless fit. Bayern Munich values attacking outside-backs who can create chances and influence games high up the pitch, and he already has a track record of doing exactly that in the Bundesliga.
Of course, Bayern Munich fans might also argue the best solution is simple: just sign whoever hurts Bayern Munich the most when these two clubs meet.
So if Bayern Munich could take one Bayer Leverkusen player right now for the next three seasons — who would it be?
