Arman Tsarukyan added some hardware to his trophy case.
On Wednesday, Tsarukyan took on Mehdi Baydulaev in the main event of ACBJJ 20 at the Dynamo Volleyball Arena in Moscow. Tsarukyan took on the accomplished
ACA featherweight for the promotional “all-star title,” in a grappling match that went a little haywire, before Tsarukyan ultimately got the win.
The bout took place as a 10-minute grappling match under the ACBJJ rules, but the event also showcased some combat jiu-jitsu hybrid bouts, and just a few minutes into the contest, Tsarukyan apparently got confused, landing a heavy knee to the body during a clinch. The obviously illegal strike led to a retaliatory kick from Baydulaev before the referee intervened, and for a few minutes it appeared that the whole bout would be called off.
Eventually, cooler heads prevailed and the bout was restarted, with Tsarukyan getting a yellow card for his flagrant foul. That ended up not mattering though as Tsarukyan dominated the action for most of the bout from that point forward, eventually getting to the back and locking in a rear-naked choke that elicited the tap from Baydulaev with just 13 seconds left in the match.
This is Tsarukyan’s second win at ACBJJ, having submitted Patricky Pitbull at ACBJJ 18 in September. Tsarukyan also recently submitted Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar in Nov.
