84’ – Hutchinson gives Myko the slip and is tripped up just outside the box on the right side. The fouled player curls it into the box, Pickford with a better parry on it and KDH clears it. Better from
the goalie this time.
82’ – Now Grealish in space.. dances on the ball, two players on him, he puts it into the box for Beto, and McNeil gets in his way, ugh.
79’ – Grealish finds McNeil, his cross is blocked for a corner. Garner again, deep this time.. Sels clawed it away. Ball fell for Tarky with his back to goal, and steps out of the way for.. Dewsbury-Hall who threads a low shot into the far corner!!! 3-0 to the Toffees!
78’ – Ili dancing on the ball, into the box, weathers a heavy challenge and fires a shot.. palmed away by a diving Sels! That was an excellent shot and save. Garner’s corner is poor, cleared.
75’ – Neat passing triangles on the Everton right flank with McNeil coming out with it, Anderson steals it away but the pass is misplaced and Grealish pounces on it, sets up KDH for the shot and he clatters the top of the upright with a curling shot! So close to three!!
72’ – A couple of long throws from JOB, and then a deep cross that is put out for an Everton corner on the left. Garner inswinger, put out for another corner. This one taken short, Grealish sets up for a shot but Anderson nips in and sets off on a counter, Tarky tugs him down. Professional foul, yellow card.
Dwight McNeil is now coming on for Alcaraz, and still no sign of Tyler Dibling. Incredible.
70’ – More handbags in the middle now, as a couple of Forest and Everton players fight (almost literally) for the ball in the middle, and a couple of heavy challenges from KDH and MGW too.
66’ – Awful, awful error from Pickford and the captain Tarky bails him out! The England #1 flails his punch attempt at a cross, falls into the box and a shot is going goalwards but Tarkowski behind him blocks the chance, phew.
64’ – Hutchinson, who Everton were heavily linked with before they got Dibling, has gotten short shrift from Tarkowski. The Blues defender is certainly giving him the business anytime he hovers into his postcode.
60’ – Keane miscues a clearance, allows Forest to have a long throw which is cleared. Yates has pulled up holding his hamstring as he fought for the ball with Charly, with the Forest player having just come on at halftime.
Moyes will take Barry off so that nothing untoward comes with the player who has finally gotten his first Toffees goal. Beto will be coming on, and will tag in to the fight with Milenkovic.
57’ – Now Forest can break on their left, Williams through on goal and Tarky skids across to save the day.
The corner is deep, Milenkovic at the back post heads goalwards but there’s a couple of Blues there to hoof it away.
Milenkovic has the ball and Barry comes across him with his shoulder and catches him in the jaw. The two have been duelling all afternoon, and now both have a yellow card each. The freekick is into the box and the Blues can clear.
54’ – Charly charging forward and brought down by Milenkovic who is booked also. It’s nearly thirty yards out and Garner takes it.. off the wall. It falls to Grealish wide on the left, he takes his time and finds Garner with a chipped cross, his first-time shot is straight at Sels though and he saves. The rebound is then cleared.
51’ – Grealish has switched to the right, and loses the ball allowing Forest to gain possession after KDH handles it. Allows Jesus to test Pickford but the goalie gathers easily.
49’ – Almost a chance for Alcaraz as the ball bounces into the Forest box, his touch takes him away from the goal, Grealish sets up Myko for a shot, blocked.
46’ – Dyche makes three changes at the break as he throws on reinforcements – Hudson-Odoi, Yates, and Abbott, with Ndoye, Sangare and Savona going off.
Halftime Thoughts – After taking the early lead Everton looked to take their foot off the pedal towards the last fifteen minutes with Forest starting to push forward. However, Ndiaye’s explosive defensive ability created the second, and the humongous monkey on Barry’s back is finally off.
45+5’ – In between all that Forest’s Morato has been booked for protesting, one assumes, but no idea what, that was as clean a steal from Ndiaye as you’ll ever see. There’s the halftime whistle now and the stadium is BUZZING FOR BARRY!
45+3’ – Forest are committing men upfront and Ndiaye steals the ball off a weak attempt from Hutchinson and charges forward.. it’s three Blues shirts against Milenkovic.. Ndiaye decides to pass it to Barry on his left with Alcaraz on the right.. and THIERNO BARRY SLOTS IN AT THE FAR POST AND HE HAS HIS FIRST EVERTON GOAL!!!! 2-0 now!!
45+2’ – Everton’s front four are pressing hard and push Forest back into their own half before a deep ball is headed away by JOB.
Forest are now playing a lot better and some quick passing sees Anderson with a shooting chance on the Everton right, but excellent save from Pickford!
45’ – Good training ground move from the visitors as Williams finds Gibbs-White behind the Blues backline, his cutback though is neatly gathered by Jordan Pickford.
There will be three or so minutes added on.
42’ – Forest packing the midfield and Everton are not always succeeding in playing through.
Ndoye fouls Myko, Kavanagh blows for a foul but undeterred the Forest player puts it into the Blues net and the crowd again howls with derision. He’s lucky not to be booked.
37’ – Garner fouled right in front of Moyes by Anderson. Tarky freekick comes to Grealish, he tries to play in Vitaliy Mykolenko but Forest can usher the ball out.
32’ – Ndoye and Hutchison have switched wings and the former wins a corner on the Everton left. Doesn’t beat Charly Alcaraz as the first man who nods it up, and Everton can partly clear before the visitors win another corner.
This one is deeper, overhit a bit, but then as Forest handle in the build-up and the pressure is relieved.
30’ – Everton could have a problem here as Barry has gone down again.
By the way, the goal has now been attributed as a Milenkovic own-goal, sorry KDH.
25’ – Everton’s press has been effective, and they’re putting Forest under pressure. Milenkovic looks to push Barry in the back as he was about to jump for a ball and the striker lands heavily on his shoulder, play continues and the Blues are howling.
21’ – First Grealish then KDH taking a buffeting from Milenkovic, with Kavanagh finally giving the foul.
Now the ball looks to go off Morato right in front of the assistant ref and Hill Dickinson want a corner, but to no avail.
19’ – Barry’s hold-up play is appreciated by the crowd, he has looked strong today with his back to goal.
15’ – Forest trying to play through the middle there but the Blues are defending in packs and able to clear the danger.
Awful backpass from Williams back into the box that Thierno Barry controls, leads to a KDH shot from distance, saved by Sels and pops up in the air over Barry and Forest can clear.
13’ – Savona cross is deep into the Everton box, and Jesus gets over Jake O’Brien but it’s wide. JOB gave up too easily there.
8’ – Grealish’s first-time pass finds KDH, and he plays it into the inside left channel to.. an underlapping Michael Keane! His first shot is blocked and the second flies wide. Incredible how the centrehalf was the most forward player there!
Ndoye goes down holding his face, though it was Tarky barging him in the back. The ref Chris Kavanagh is talking to both captains about tempering things.
6’ – KDH tugged down twice by Hutchison before the foul is given. Quite a bit of controversy about defending players going over like that, but in this case the Forest player had his hands all over the midfielder.
2’ – Everton lead early! And it’s that man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall again, in-form and killing it! A Cruyff-turn to beat Ndoye, and more of a cross than anything level with the six-yard box, but it looks to go off Milenkovic’s head and the Blues lead 1-0.
1’ – James Garner gets us underway! Savona booked 25 seconds in, brings down Jack Grealish, wow. The crowd are immediately into it. Almost level with the 18-yard line, and Garner’s ball into the box is headed away.

Everton – Michael Keane has recovered from his knock, saving Moyes from a bigger headache. Only eight on the bench, including two goalies and one youngster, Elijah Campbell who is a center half.
Nottingham Forest – Dyche has Gibbs-White back but not Murillo.
Match Preview
Everton play their fourth game in thirteen days when they host Nottingham Forest at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday. In that spell we’ve seen the best and the worst of the Toffees as they’ve picked up two impressive wins on the road but also completely disintegrated starting in the first minute at home last weekend.
The Blues had been undefeated at their new home by the docks until imploding under a setpiece barrage against Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle continued in that same vein. Today’s opponent Forest also have the potential to do the same, even though they are a middling squad in most setpiece metrics.
There has been some level of rivalry between the two sides since Forest came back into the Premier League with both teams often vying for the same players during transfer windows. However, there will be an added dash of drama given that today’s visitors are being helmed by none other than Sean Dyche, who was sacked by the Blues nearly two years ago and replaced by David Moyes.

Last Meeting
As 2024 drew to a close, the Blues slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park which pretty much called time on the Dyche era with the Toffees. Everton then extracted their revenge winning one-nil at the City Ground in April, contributing to the late season slide that saw Forest go from third all the way to seventh when the season ended.
