Indiana football saw its seventh player taken in the NFL Draft on Saturday when the Tennessee Titans selected center Pat Coogan with the 194th overall pick in the sixth round.
Here’s what to know about the newest Titan:
Pat Coogan – C – 6’5”, 311 lbs
Coogan transferred to Indiana ahead of the 2025 season after spending the previous four seasons at Notre Dame, including 13 starts at center for the Fighting Irish in their run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2024. He previously started at guard in 2023.
When Indiana needed a new starting center with Mike Katic out of eligibility, Curt Cignetti and offensive line coach Bob Bostad sought an experienced hand at the position and found it in the man who’d helped end their first breakout season. Coogan filled that need and did so well and, in return, Indiana made him a national champion.
Coogan lacks the athleticism of some of his peers along the offensive front but makes up for it with ideal playing technique and football IQ. He brings several games worth of experience at center, including two deep postseason runs, to Tennessee and filled in seamlessly as a leader in the Hoosiers’ locker room after having that same role with the Fighting Irish.
If there’s a correct way to counter a rush, you can bet Coogan knows it and how to execute.
