Speculating when a player will return from an injury is always difficult. That level of difficulty increases tenfold when we’re talking about the San Francisco 49ers. Calling Kyle Shanahan vague when discussing injuries is an understatement.
Shanahan’s injury updates on Thursday were as forthcoming asthe Niners’ head coach can be.
“Just some Achilles soreness.”
“Usually calves heal, and they’re usually good.”
“Probably outside chance before the bye week.”
“I think he’s on track.”
Which non-Nick Bosa injury return will have the biggest impact on the 49ers?
As you can see from The
Feed post, you have plenty of options. You can make a convincing argument for any of the wide receivers.
During his KNBR interview, John Lynch said Kyle Juszczyk could play this week. Without Juszczyk, Luke Farrell had to play out of position at times last week. Brayden Willis only saw the field for 11 snaps. Without Juszczyk, the 49ers can’t run everything they want. Shoot, they are less eager to run without him.
Robinson played only two games, but he caught five passes for 84 yards and a touchdown. He seemed like the WR2 the Niners were looking for.
It’s tough to forget how promising Stribling looked. It’s unrealistic to assume he’d perform at that level after missing what could be three months, but he earned playing time over everyone but Mike Evans and Robinson.
There’s a sense of calm when Deebo is on the field. He’s been this close to breaking a long return, too. The 49ers feel more multiple when he’s on the field.
