Having won their first playoff game in seven years, the New England Patriots are going to try to make it two in a row with a ticket to the AFC Championship on the line. Standing in their way is arguably
the hottest team in the NFL right now, a Houston Texans squad coming off its 10th straight victory.
Despite Houston being on a run, the Patriots are opening the week as slight favorites as a look at the numbers provided by FanDuel Sportsbook shows.
Odds for Patriots vs. Texans in NFL divisional playoffs
- Spread: Patriots -2.5
- Moneyline: Patriots -154 | Texans +130
- Over/under: 40.5
As opposed to last week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, which ended up producing 16 total points against an over/under of 45.5, the oddsmakers are more cautious in the divisional round. With an over/under set at 40.5, a similarly low-score contest is expected — unsurprisingly given that the Texans’ defense is one of the best in football, and that the Patriots’ own just held L.A. to three points.
The Patriots’ game against the Texans will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 18.
