A name the French adore. A name every fan of the France football team adores. A name the footballing world admires.
PSG and France star winger Désiré Doué, a phenom in his own right, is the latest to join a long list of admirers of the Bayern Munich winger. Olise has had an unprecedented season, and according to Transfermarkt’s statistics, already has the record for most assists in a single season EVER, surpassing Messi’s peak season. He has 31 assists across
all competitions for Bayern Munich and 6 assists for France (5 in the World Cup, 1 in a friendly), taking his tally to a mind-numbing 37 (!!!!!) assists in a single season.
AND HE ISN’T DONE YET.
In a recent interview with Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Désiré Doué expressed his admiration for Michael Olise: “He’s an exceptional player – you can see that in every single match. He currently has the most assists at the World Cup, which is truly remarkable.”
Guess what? Olise could break the record for most assists in World Cup competitions. In a SINGLE WC tournament. Messi holds the record with 8 assists across 5 tournaments. Olise has 5 and counting from his FIRST World Cup.
Doué continued, “He is an absolute top-class player who gives us so, so much. All of the players get along with him extremely well. He may come across as a bit quieter and more reserved with the media, but he’s different with us. We share a lot of laughs with him. I hope he continues to perform at this level and keeps helping us as a team”
Olise has always had a reserved media personality and is a man of few words. But boy, oh boy, does he let his football do the talking. He also seems to be liked universally, both by his Bayern teammates and his French national team comrades.
