The Wisconsin Badgers will take on the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes at Camp Randall Stadium in Week 8, and they’re getting a major network for the game. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. on CBS, the team announced on Monday.
Wisconsin is coming off its third straight loss, this one to the No. 20 Michigan Wolverines, and things aren’t getting any easier for the rest of the month. The Badgers are facing off against rival Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend at Camp Randall, getting a primetime slot for the homecoming
game with kickoff at 6:30 p.m.
Then comes the bout against No. 1 Ohio State, with the No. 2 Oregon Ducks coming after that to end the month on the road.
This weekend, Wisconsin has arguably its best chance at a win all year long when they face a 3-2 Iowa team that is 1-1 in the Big Ten with a win over Rutgers and a loss to Indiana.
While Iowa had some ups and downs to start the season, they’ve looked better as of late with a stronger offensive showing against Rutgers and a tough battle versus a Top 10 team with Indiana. Moreover, they’re coming off a bye week, so they have an extra week to prepare for the rivalry matchup.
Against Ohio State, however, Wisconsin is facing a team that is elite on both sides of the ball. They have a marquee 14-7 win over then-No. 1 Texas in Week 1. And they limited a strong Washington offense to six points before dismantling Minnesota 42-3 this past weekend. This one could be ugly, even at Camp Randall.
In either game, Wisconsin will have to figure out how to score. The Badgers have gone under 20 points in four of its five games this year and have not been competitive in any matter over its past three games against Alabama, Maryland, and Michigan.
In all three games, the score looked better than the final outcome, as Wisconsin had a late score with the game out of hand in each loss.
Opportunities for that marquee win that head coach Luke Fickell is searching for are littered throughout the month. It just doesn’t seem likely at the moment, given the current trajectory of the team.
