Excuse me?
Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty called out some defenders on the New York Jets defense ahead of Week 8:
“I think we can definitely get the run game going, get back on track, and just really get after these guys. Couple of guys out there that don’t really want to tackle, but I’m not going to say names,” Jeanty said via ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
*Channels my inner Mike Evans to look at the back of Jeanty’s jersey*
Who the hell are you, buddy?
Oh, I know who you are. You’re the player that
Raiders fans are questioning as a first-round bust. Mr. 3.1 yards per carry, which ranks 49th in the NFL among ball carriers. Las Vegas, as a team, ranks 31st in the league in rushing.
That’s a bold strategy, Cotton; let’s see if it pays off. Now it’s not like the Jets are some stout unit or anything. They have been wildly inconsistent at stopping the run. They rank 24th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game (127.7).
It’s just funny coming from a guy like Jeanty. If Baltimore Ravens superstar Derrick Henry said that? Oh, okay, you have some street cred, but Ashton Jeanty? Get the heck out of here.
If this doesn’t motivate the Jets defense, I don’t know what will.
