Red hot heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma wasn’t exactly thrilled with the amount of time it’s taken him to secure his next fight, and now it will be a bit longer as Queensberry Promotions has confirmed
that Itauma suffered an unspecified injury during camp which has forced them to push off a Jan. 24 fight against Jermaine Frankin, scheduled to take place in Manchester. The entire card has now been moved to March 28.
“Moses Itauma has sustained an injury in camp for his fight with Jermaine Franklin on Jan. 24,” Queensberry said in a statement. “Due to this, the whole Magnificent 7 show has been postponed and moved to the new date of March 28th at the Co-Op Live in Manchester.”
Promoter Frank Warren says he believes Franklin could prove to be Itauma’s toughest test to date as he believes he’s demonstrated his durability by surviving 12 rounds against Anthony Joshua and giving Dillian Whyte a good go in what were his only two professional losses.
Whether or not Franklin proves to be a tough opponent for Itauma remains to be seen, but it’ll be at least a couple more months before we find out for sure.
