The Cleveland Browns are coming off a win in week seven against the Miami Dolphins; however, they are still not in an ideal position in the division, sitting at 2-5. The team was able to put up 31 points
on the board last week, but the passing game still looked fairly vanilla with just 116 passing yards from Dillon Gabriel. This has led to the question of whether the team should give Shedeur Sanders a chance to start and see what they have in him.
While Gabriel has shown promise, the offense has still struggled to find any rhythm. His receivers and offensive line haven’t helped much, but he has also had difficulty with accuracy. One of his weaknesses is his inability to throw the ball downfield. Should the Browns choose to start Sanders, it could open up their ability to push the ball downfield more.
Since the NFL draft, the Browns have made it clear they saw Gabriel well ahead of Sanders, so making a change might take longer than many would like.
Given that the team only has two wins so far, it is fair to assume they will most likely not be a playoff team this season. If your goal as an organization isn’t to make the playoffs, you can take some more risks. These remaining weeks are a great opportunity to see what they have at quarterback and assess the position as a whole. It is essential to utilize this time to determine the direction they need to go in 2026.
