Other Giant observations
Jaxson Dart’s winning debut feels like the start of something for Giants | SNY.tv
Jaxson Dart was among the few players remaining in the Giants locker room. You could tell he was sore. The way he moved from the far corner showers to his stall, how he now
stood collecting himself. Those six sacks and 10 hits laid on him by the Chargers defense took their toll.
That’s when Brian Daboll joined his quarterback. The two had already embraced each other on the field, but this was different. It was quieter now, less around. Daboll reached his hand out, grabbed the back of Dart’s neck and brought him close. They held each other. Daboll then walked away with a smile.
This felt like the start of something.

Odell Beckham Jr. calls for NFL to ‘get rid of the turf’ in fiery message after crushing Malik Nabers injury | New York Post
“Dear @NFL , I mean this with the upmost love and respect. We (The NFL) take all The precautions in the world with EVERYthing else when it comes to players ‘health” and “safety’. PLZ. PLZ. PLZ. GET RID OF THE 🤬 TURF. Thank You in advance. LUV,” the 32-year-old Beckham wrote on X. “Respect and u kno I loveeeee the giants , but DeathLife has taken too many talented players away from the game. I kno it’s not ALL the turfs fault but at least maybe it to where we’ve gotten all research done to if TURF has to stay it’s at the HIGHEST of quality possible. At least can we start the discussion.”
If Jaxson Dart’s stuntman debut was any indication, Russell Wilson should stay ready | The Athletic
2. If Jaxson Dart’s Hollywood stuntman debut was any indication, Russell Wilson will play again for the Giants.
Dart, limping through the second half after straining a hamstring, finished his first start with seven designed rushes, three scrambles, five sacks, two hits on incomplete passes, and one spotter-initiated concussion check on a play negated by penalty. He did not slide or step out of bounds on any of those plays, going untouched only on his 15-yard touchdown run. That’s a lot of physical stress on the body for a team that led the whole way and averaged 3.6 yards per play, second-lowest in 198 total Giants victories since 2000, per TruMedia.
Week 4 NFL Takeaways: If You Thought the Chiefs Were Dead, That’s on You | SI.com
Jaxson Dart has a real chance to change the trajectory of the Giants’ rebuild. I also think the brass in New York has known it for a while. During the summer, they were hesitant to make public that quiet confidence, because it was still Russell Wilson’s team. But at the end of Sunday’s 21–18 upset of the Chargers, it was laid bare for everyone to see.
Politi: Jaxson Dart gives beleaguered Giants something beautiful — hope | NJ.com
If you’re a Giants fan, it might be best to enjoy this moment and not look too far into the future. Daboll is smiling now, but with the Eagles, Packers, Lions and Broncos on the schedule over the next two months, he might revert back to Coach Affleck Meme long before Thanksgiving.
This season isn’t about climbing over the Eagles in the NFC East or contending for that fifth Lombardi Trophy. It is about finding something — anything — to give fans a reason that the cycle of soul-crushing losses finally will come to an end. It is about hope. Dart offered a glimmer of it on a lovely Sunday afternoon, and in the process, the Giants won a football game. Hallelujah.

Cam Skattebo’s energy infectious with Giants teammates: ‘Brings that juice’ | New York Post
“I just think that we play very similar, like, mentality-wise,” Dart said after Giants 21, Chargers 18. “I need to be smarter in the open field taking some hits and whatnot, but when you have a guy like that who just kinda brings the juice every single day and gives it his all, the guys around him want to play harder. And off the field we just have a really cool connection.”
With Jaxson Dart, NY Giants’ hopes and dreams are suddenly alive again in New Jax City | The Record
Abdul Carter pulled Jaxson Dart aside in the New York Giants’ locker room earlier this week, took out his cell phone and showed his teammate a GIF featuring Anakin Skywalker, otherwise known as Darth Vader to those who love “Star Wars,” as they do.
The scene featured in the short video Carter had saved on his Instagram page was of Skywalker – upon hearing “Execute Order 66” from the eventual Emperor Palpatine – preparing to take out the opposition by any and all means necessary.

“We ask to be on the field when it matters most, and this week, we just took advantage,” Lawrence said. “The whole game, we were on each other, speaking through the game about situational awareness and understanding what plays need to be made.”
‘He is spent’: Brian Burns brings the energy | Giants.com
Brian Daboll had revealed moments earlier in his postgame press conference that Burns, one of five team captains, gutted through the late September game that reached mid-80s on the thermometer in East Rutherford. Burns admitted it was “aggravating” as he used precious breaths in between plays on coughing and hacking up mucus.
“I saw Burns after, I saw him during the game, and he is spent,” Daboll said. “Not saying it’s the [Michael Jordan] flu game. But that young man is spent. I mean, he looks the part right now.”

NFL Week 4: Biggest questions, takeaways for every game | ESPN.com
Key stat to know: Five QB hits by edge rusher Abdul Carter. The rookie had the best game of his young career. He was constantly in the Chargers’ backfield, hitting quarterback Justin Herbert. But this year’s No. 3 draft pick wasn’t alone. Brian Burns had four QB hits and a sack. The Giants’ edge rushers — Carter, Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux — combined for 20 pressures, per NFL Next Gen Stats. Domination.
NFL Week 5 Betting: Best early bets before lines move | PFF
New York Giants (-1.5) @ New Orleans Saints [Total: 41.5]. The Giants have a greater chance to win through multiple dimensions with Dart and a terrific defensive front, whereas the Saints have a struggling quarterback, offensive line and defense. These teams are a tier apart and shouldn’t be in a 50-50 game.

Taysom Hill, Foster Moreau will return to practice for Saints | Pro Football Talk
Head coach Kellen Moore said at a Monday press conference that Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau are both going to start the process of returning to active duty from the physically unable to perform list this week. Hill has been out with a chest injury and Moreau has been sidelined by a knee injury.
Moore said they’ll see how things progress with both players who are able to practice for three weeks before the team reaches a deadline to activate them. If they aren’t activated by then, they will not be able to play at all this season.
NFL Week 4: Biggest questions, takeaways for every game | ESPN.com
Is this a turning point for the Saints? Some of the Saints’ usual issues still showed up — they gave up big plays and had a key special teams penalty that snuffed out any chances of a comeback. But overall, the Saints played much better than they have been this season against a very good Bills team. They cut down on the penalties, showed improvement in all three phases and also showcased young players such as Jonas Sanker and Kendre Miller. It was a big turnaround from last week’s blowout loss. The Saints haven’t been able to win a game yet, but they face the 1-3 Giants and a rookie quarterback at home next week, giving them hope to get out of their winless slump.
2025 NFL Week 4 Winners and Losers | Bleacher Report
Loser: Saints’ vertical passing game. New Orleans found something in using quarterback Spencer Rattler’s mobility as part of the designed run game. However, a good ground game isn’t going to solve the squad’s offensive problems since the unit has troubles attacking opponents vertically. Rattler averaged 4.7 yards per attempt against the Bills. Comparatively, Josh Allen finished the contest at 9.5. No Saints receiver had a reception longer than 17 yards. Only one target has a catch over 21 yards for the entire season.
