Free agent projections are out, and so it is that time again — time for the annual “should the Rangers sign This Player” polls.
Today, we are looking at relief pitcher Tyler Rogers.
Rogers turns 35 next
month. A 10th round pick in 2013 out of Austin Peay, he spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants until the 2025 trade deadline, when he was dealt to the New York Mets. He is a submariner who doesn’t throw hard, doesn’t walk anyone, and generates a ton of ground balls. He is not to be confused with his brother, Taylor, who is a lefty reliever who is also a free agent.
Over at Fangraphs, Ben Clemens projects Rogers at two years, $22 million as the #25 free agent in their top 50, while the median crowdsource has Rogers at 1 year, $8 million. At ESPN, Kiley McDaniel has Rogers at #30, and projects him at 3 years, $27 million. Rogers didn’t make Keith Law’s list.
We will use the McDaniel projection for our poll.
Should the Rangers sign Tyler Rogers to a 3 year, $27 million deal?
